A Flexible Blended Learning Programme designed to Suit Busy Professionals
Akeso is committed to developing and supporting coaching and mentoring for primary healthcare professionals. We have offered an ‘Introduction to Coaching and Mentoring’ programme for many years; this is an online programme which has been developed with our partners: The Madison Group.

The training course runs over Zoom with sessions in 6 consecutive weeks; training is through presentation, demonstration, group discussion, small group work, coaching triads and lots of opportunities to practise.
Designed as an introduction to further accredited coaching training, the programme is endorsed by ILM (part of City and Guilds) it is run over 6 weeks, with one 2.5 hour workshop per week
On completion of this course Akeso delegates will have the opportunity of applying to join our coaching network provided they are working towards further accredited coach training.

Jeff Matthews
COURSE TUTOR
Jeff Matthews has over 30 years’ experience as a coach and coach trainer, the last 25 in his own independent consultancy, following a successful career to Director level in business. He is accredited with the Association of Professional Executive Coaches and Supervisors (APECS) and as a coach supervisor with EMCC with whom he was nominated for a global award as ‘Coach Supervisor of the Year’. His model of practise is influenced by a Solutions Focused approach. His company The Madison Group has clients across all sectors of UK organisational life. He has extensive experience of the NHS and is currently supporting the NHS national coach network, with supervision and CPD throughout the Midlands and East. He has run successful programmes for Akeso on coaching, mentoring and coaching supervision for nearly 10 years.

James Butcher
COURSE TUTOR
Over the last 25 years James has coached senior executives from a wide variety of organisations, including PwC, Arup, Telefonica, Coca Cola, the NHS, local government, and the Civil Service. James is on the faculty of the NHS Leadership Academy, and coaches on the on-call resilience coaching service for NHS staff. He runs development programmes on consulting skills, leadership, change management, personal impact, and resilience, and his work has taken him to Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
James has a Diploma in Counselling, and has completed the Advanced Training in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy. He has trained in the use of Appreciative Inquiry, and has an MSc in Applied Positive Psychology. He is currently undertaking a Diploma in Coaching Supervision. James contributed case studies of his work to the leadership book 'Positive Psychology at Work' and wrote a chapter on resilience for 'How to be a Nurse or Midwife Leader'.
